Tracy Wolf Plock is participating in the Arizona IRONMAN on November 21, 2010
To friends, family, colleagues and anyone interested in helping the fight against pancreatic cancer:
As many of you know, my mother, Alberta Ziomek Wolf, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this past April and died in June. Those of you who knew her, knew she was healthy and active (still working out every night). Needless to say, it was a shock to us all and we miss her dearly.
In memory of my mom, I have dedicated my participation in this years IRONMAN ARIZONA (yes, it is my first IRONMAN and I may be nuts) to her through the “Janus Charity Challenge”.
The charity I have chosen is the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. The foundation is committed to providing support for those afflicted with and affected by pancreatic cancer as well as research.
Pancreatic cancer:
-the #4 cancer killer in the US, and the only one of the four without a known cure
-42,400 people diagnosed in a year = 116+/day
-92% die during the first year
-the lack of early detection methods and research continues to slow progress
Through the charity challenge, in addition to donations, Janus makes additional contributions to the top 50 fundraisers:
top fundraiser = $10,000 2nd = $8,000
3rd = $6,000 4th = $4,000
5th = $2,000
- next 30 with minimum of $750, Janus adds $750
- next 15 with minimum of $100, Janus adds $100
I would greatly appreciate your help in supporting the Foundation to fight this terrible disease.
